Studio William

Studio William Welch Ltd, is an internationally renowned, design- award-winning cutlery company, based in the quintessentially English town of Stratford-Upon-Avon. We are English designers, upholding the tradition of English cutlery makers; but we are people of the world. At Studio William we have a wide range of influences, from art and architecture, to nature and history. Every range of cutlery we design and manufacture has it’s own personal story to tell.

William Welch is an multi award-winning British Industrial Designer. His father was also one of the most recognised Industrial Designers, in post-war Britain. William’s enthusiasm, and attention to detail, really shows in his original cutlery designs, which push the boundaries of traditional cutlery. William Welch launched Studio William Cutlery in 2005.

Since 2008, Studio William is proud to support the (ITF) International Tree Foundation’s work to protect forests and plant trees and to promote understanding of the vital role trees have for all life on earth.

Each range of cutlery is named after a type of tree – because every tree has its own unique form. Sometimes a tree has directly inspired our design. Sometimes we see aspects of a tree reflected in our design. The Studio William team wanted to find an additional way to work with the beauty of trees.
With commercial deforestation and plundering of ancient timbers, natural forests are being destroyed. It was an easy decision to help a charity that aims to support community forestry projects both in the UK and in Africa.

In support of ITF’s 20 Million trees for Kenya’s Forests Centenary Campaign, Studio William will donate £2.50 from every order of over £200 towards planting a life-giving tree in Kenya.
